Jim has been a commercial lawyer for over 25 years, the first 6 with a Sydney CBD firm practising extensively in commercial litigation, running trials and appearing in all the NSW civil courts, various specialist tribunals and the Land & Environment Court, Federal and High Courts.
Jim attained specialist accreditation in commercial litigation in 2006, before joining HB Legal Business & Property Lawyers in Port Macquarie in 2007. In recent years he has increasingly focused on commercial transaction and advice work, maintaining a keen awareness of the need to ensure clients are appropriately protected in the event of difficulties or disputes.
Jim is attuned to the differing needs of clients, mindful of the fact that some clients wish to be appraised of matters in fine detail, while others are comfortable leaving the details in his capable hands. He is good at explaining the law and its application clearly.
Jim provides services in the areas of property and business transactions, leases, employment law, commercial dispute resolution and intellectual property protection. He also has a particular interest in building and construction matters. Outside of work Jim enjoys spending time with his family, playing the piano, reading good books and being involved in a local church.

Our office is located in the beautiful historic Hayward House, 104 Horton St, Port Macquarie. A building full of character and charm. Built in the 1850s, this historic gem on Horton Street mirrors the qualities we cherish: a strong foundation, timeless resilience, and a welcoming spirit.
Hayward House has been home to many people, businesses and their unique stories over the years. One of our clients informed us she would come here to have her school uniform fitted - by the Hayward sisters, who lived here, in the 1950s! We love sharing stories and memories of this historic house with our clients and locals alike.
